A triumph 5 years in the making, and the closeout of a nearly $20 million contract, will end 2013 with a bang as Crystal Steel puts the finishing touches on its erection of structural steel and miscellaneous metals for the Washington DC Metro system's Silver line expansion toward Dulles Airport. The 6 stations, originally planned as only 5, were constructed on a fast track with close coordination between fabricator, erector and design team. Working in tight sites, often in the middle of highly active freeways, the project was a logistical and safety challenge. Crystal Steel and S&R Erectors were up to the challenge.
McLean, VA - Dulles Transit Partners (DTP), a joint venture of Bechtel Infrastructure and URS formed to design and build the Metro line from Rosslyn, VA to Dulles International Airport, selected Crystal Steel to be its featured DBE for the month of April.
